Strength Through Praise | Psalm 103
Sermon Summary
Psalm 103 calls the believer to a life of wholehearted worship that’s not rooted in circumstances but in the character and grace of God. David tells his soul to “bless the Lord” by remembering His many benefits. This psalm invites us to respond with continual gratitude and trust in God, even as human strength fades.
We are called to praise Him with all our heart and to resist forgetting His blessings when life gets busy or distracting. As God’s people, we were not meant to worship alive but in community, where we remind one another of His goodness and grace in our lives.
One Big Idea
This Psalm declares and reminds us of God’s countless blessings towards us, His steadfast love, and calling us to praise Him even as our strength fails
Key Scriptures:
Deuteronomy 6:5 (NASB): You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
1 John 1:9 (NASB): If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Exodus 34:6 (NASB): Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth.”
Romans 8:32 (NASB): He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Psalm 103:2 (NASB): Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits.
Truths to focus on this week:
Praise God wholeheartedly: All that we do, in every season, we praise the Lord withour whole heart. We’re called to have lives of abundant thankfulness toward God. Blessing the Lord is rooted in faith rather than our emotions or circumstances, we must depend completely on Him!
Praise God for all His blessings: It’s easy to forget God’s faithfulness in our lives. Busyness, impatience, disappointments, and the love for the world make us lose sight of all that He’s done for us, and what He’s doing in us. We we mature and our responsibilities increase, let us be those that seek first His kingdom!
Praise God together: We were made to praise Him in the context of family, not alone! As we remind one another of who God is and what He’s done for us, it produces praise in all of our hearts.
